Apparently I Write Things...

Posted by RapeMuffin Nov. 1, 2009 @ 10:51 PM EST

Note: I have been unmasked by a studious and intelligent fellow writer. However, he has agreed to become the Alfred to my Batman and take my true identity to the grave. Thus I remain an anonymous alt muahaha

I got some props in the Flash Fiction Competition held in December by GumOnShoe. It was my first creative writing piece I've attempted, and I was shocked by the results.

Here is my Submission

Here is the Results Page.

Here is my Special Award - Fyndir narrating my story in his sexy voice! Woooo! :D

I placed again in the NG Fan-Fiction Writing Contest held in January by GumOnShoe!! :D

Here is my Submission. It is based on Hanged Man's Elegy by Sarkazm.

Here is a link to the Results Page.

Because of LazyPint's amazing donation, I was able to get an NG Sketchbook Tour Shirt out of the deal!

Also Fyndir has generously agreed to narrate my story again, so here it is! :D

I just submitted my entry for the February Monthly Writing Contest: "Worth 1000 Words"

Here is my Submission.

Unfortunately, my submission was about 1000 words too long to be considered in the contest, but I still had a blast writing it. Thanks to WritersBlock for giving me feedback on it, even though it wasn't even part of the contest.

Here is the Results Page for this month's contest. Congratulations to Zerok for writing the winning story - it was a fascinating read, and I advise everyone to go check it out.

GumOnShoe has just launched the new monthly writing contest for April - MWC9: Spring Forth!

I just submitted my story to the contest, with 4 minutes until deadline (oops).

Here is a link to my submission.

I am a judge this time around, so I will not be eligible for any placing (but looking at the high quality of the other stories, it wouldn't have been an issue). However, I did have a ball writing this and hope I get some positive feedback about it.

Congrats to Monocrom for writing the winning story! To see all of the winners, check out the Results Page.

--------------------------------------

The may contest has come and gone - Crunch Time! I hope everyone who wanted to submit a piece finished in time.

The goal this time around is to write a believable story, with real human characters, without relying upon any of the classic genres. That means no fairies and/or unicorns (bummer, I know...).

Here is my submission.

So the Results are in and I placed again! :o

Here is the Results Thread!

Congratulations to Figmentum and boloneyman for their 1st place finishes (tie). They both had awesome stories, so check them out!

Apparently the Top 5 finishers are all having their stories narrated, so stay tuned for the recording! :D

The MWC9 June contest has just come to a close, and I barely made it! The contest is being held by Zerok this time and the theme is Island Escape!

Here is my Submission.

So after much waiting, Zerok has released the results (sorry, no result page this time) and I placed again this month! :D

Congrats to Coop83 and Peaceblossom for their 2nd and 3rd place finishes, respectively. Their pieces are both VERY good, so check them out!

--------------------------------------

The MWC9 July competition is rather difficult, in my opinion. It is titled Scintilating Sounds.

This contest requires entrants to choose an audio submission from the Audio Portal and draw inspiration from it for their piece.

Here is my Submission.

Here is the song I chose - The Beginning by DJ Brand0.

The results have been released, and I've placed 4th! :D Here is the Results Thread.

Congrats to SonicLe, Podburrys and Ekublai for their 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishes!

--------------------------------------

The MWC9 August contest was just released: Culture Shock!

Authors must select from among 4 different themes for their piece: Tales from Arabia, Ancient Egypt, Chinese Spirituality, and Terrors of Transylvania.

I chose to do mine on the Terrors of Transylvania, but it is set in a cosmopolitan city (not really the spirit of the contest, I admit) - here is my submission.

I'm a judge for this month's contest, so I won't be eligible for any placement.

Here is the Results Page! Congratulations to GumOnShoe, EternitySpent and Pocru for placing 1st, 2nd and 3rd, respectively.

--------------------------------------

MWC9 September Contest has arrived, and it is a doozy: Poetry!

After many attempts with multiple different styles of poetry, a simple haiku came to me while I was pondering this month's theme in the shower. I tweeked the words a bit (for better or for worse, I do not know), but here is the final version: Submission.

As with most poems, the meaning is elusive, so I have included an explanation of what I felt the poem represented.

Still waiting for the results! :D

--------------------------------------

The MWC9 October Contest is very cool - Punkoween!

My submission is a little long (shhhh...) but I really enjoyed writing a cop-drama style piece this month.

Here is my submission.
